Winter time in Israel occurs at times when there are fewer hours of the day than at night, and it is adjusted for inactivity at night compared to daytime. Start and end dates are determined in accordance with the provisions of the law.

What is winter time?

Winter time, and in particular winter time in Israel, is the time in Israel during the winter period, depending on the adjusted universe time (UTC). According to the law, in Israel, there is an obligation to introduce 2 times (clocks) which are winter time and summer time (daylight saving time).

By definition, winter time in Israel is the official time in Israel, and it applies on days of the year, except for days of summer time. That is, winter time applies between the last Sunday in October at 02:00 and the Friday before the last Sunday in March at 02:00.

Switching to winter time

Time in Israel in relation to the coordinated time of the universe, based on winter time (UTC+2). Thus, when there is winter time, one has to switch back to it from summer time (daylight saving time) which is UTC+3.

At times when it is winter time, the time is one hour late compared to summer time and therefore move to a universal time which is UTC+2.

In other words, at the time of switching and switching from summer time to winter time – the time moves one hour back. That is, from 02:00 to 01:00.
